Just click on any question below to read the answer. Isn't SoulMates just another online dating service? Heavens no! Dating services introduce people to others to date. SoulMates can help you find a partner who is your match, physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and who -- like you - is looking for a long-term sacred partnership or marriage, not just dates. You could think of SoulMates more as a “mating service”! (Mating, meaning finding your right mate, whether or not you have children.) Secondly, most online dating services emphasize quantity, boasting about how many millions of members they have and viewing the process of finding your mate as a “numbers game.” McMatchmaking: Millions of members! Logically, when you're dealing with so many numbers, those sites are going to end up with some successes just due to volume. (That also doesn't mean the relationships necessarily last.) Who cares how many millions of people are wrong for you? All it takes is to find that one RIGHT ONE. It may not be so easy to just bump into him or her these days. Also, the “Am I Ready for Soulmate Love?” Quiz discourages inappropriate people from even signing up, and the personal interview for Good as Gold members is an additional screening. Return to list of questions I'm confused. Is this online dating or matchmaking or both? It's both. SoulMates is designed to offer the best aspects of online dating -- profile viewing online, fast access, two-way matching -- with the best features of a real matchmaker -- screening, interviews and the personal touch. One of the main complaints many singles have about many of the larger online dating sites is that they are so impersonal, you end up feeling like a number. You are matched entirely based on questionnaires and computer programs, either of which can be flawed or can omit essentials that are important to you in your mate search. So we at SoulMates aim to give you the kind of personal touch (if you opt for Gold membership) that has heretofore only been available at the very best matchmaking companies where you are personally interviewed and have a specific person assigned to helping you create your profile and find you matches. Even many matchmaking companies, though, which typically charge $3,000 to $5,000 for providing you with some dates with allegedly appropriate people, may not fulfill their promises either in the quantity or quality of people they match you with. Some have dozens of "matchmakers" or "dating counselors," who may or may not have any experience or training in relationship counseling or psychology, and who obviously cannot personally know every member. So they actually rely primarily on the same type of computer matching that online dating provides (without telling you that) - while charging you a much heftier price tag. Some of them do background checks, but beware of any that promise you that they screen but then don't ask you for pertinent data to enable them to do so. (If they're not checking you out, they're probably not checking others out, either!) SoulMates matchmaker Taylor Kingsley's own mother paid $2,000 to a "matchmaking" service and got scammed: She was given two phone numbers. One was a man who was completely not appropriate for her and didn't match several of her crucial requirements, and the other was married! If you've done your research on the Internet and locally, you've probably already come across online dating sites that have only superficial profiles or poor customer support as well as "matchmakers" that really aren't making matches, and certainly are not worth a thousand dollars a date! None of your personal data is shared with anyone unless it's done by you or at your specific request. Secondly, we are very selective in our screening process when hiring SoulMates staff and site developers and only work with professionals who agree to keep your information confidential and whom we actually know and meet in person. And we promise to never share your information with any third party or add you to any other company's list, ever. Members who set up free profiles or sign up for Trial or Regular memberships are not screened. Members who sign up for Good as Gold membership provide us with necessary data and authorize us to run criminal checks, credit reports, and marital status checks on them. We use the background check services that rate amongst the highest for accuracy and consumer satisfaction. For security purposes, this data, as well as address and social security number, is not revealed to anyone else. Members who pass all three levels of screening will be notified via email that they are approved for Good as Gold status, which will then be added to their profile so that members who are looking only for screened members can find each other easily. Good as Gold verified members also receive a 1-hour personal interview with matchmaker and relationship counselor, Taylor Kingsley. If we find during the screening that anyone is: a) married, b) has a composite credit score below 620, OR c) has a felony or sexual crime on their criminal record, they will be notified via email that they have not passed the screening and their membership and their profile and/or membership will be deactivated at all levels. In addition to the background checks, additional screenings include the “Am I Ready for Soulmate Love?” Quiz, the personal interview (which mainly is intended to support approved Gold members to optimize their success with the service, however we do believe one can tell a lot about a person from their voice, as well as their photo), and the fact that if any member has a negative experience of any kind with another member, we will investigate that and reserve the right to cancel membership of anyone who harasses, threatens or harms any other member in any way. Period. We have a ZERO TOLERANCE FOR NEGATIVITY OR UNETHICAL BEHAVIOR. Individuals who misrepresent themselves may be subject to penalties and prosecution under federal and local laws. The vast majority of online dating sites offer no screening or background checks whatsoever, and we are the only site for conscious or spiritual singles that does screening. We cannot guarantee that any individual is single, however, we do our best to ensure that married people are prohibited from using our site, and we do this several ways: 1. We use national online sources to verify marital status. 2. The "Am I Ready for My Soulmate" quiz addresses the issue of "being sexually, romantically and maritally available" and recommends that anyone who is not should not sign up for SoulMates. 3. There is yet another built-in screening which we don't want to disclose here because then sneaky married people would know how to get around it, so just know there is yet another way we strive to keep marrieds out of SoulMates. We also suggest that you pay attention to your own intuition about someone you are interested in or dating. Does s/he talk in a quiet voice, as if not wanting to be overheard? Can you call them anytime, at work or home? Do they have strange schedule limitations? Do they seem hesitant to introduce you to other friends or family members or to invite you into their home? These could all be indications they are married. Finally, if you discover that a member of SoulMates is married, report this to us immediately and we will cancel the membership and deactivate the profile of any married person, who may be liable for fines and criminal penalties for misrepresenting themselves. Because of our three layers of screening and our commitment to NO MARRIEDS ALLOWED, and because we attract people who are themselves conscious and striving for personal growth including honesty and compassion, we offer a much higher likelihood that people you meet through SoulMates will be genuinely single. Return to list of questions Does SoulMates accept members only of certain spiritual paths/religions, geographical areas or sexual preference? No, singles who are straight, gay, lesbian or bisexual, of all races and religions are honored with equal respect and service. SoulMates will not deny membership to anyone on account of age, physical ability, religion, sexual preference or ethnicity and uses this data only to help members find a harmonious match. We accept members from all over the world; however, most are within the United States. You can specify in your profile whether you would be willing to relocate for true love (yes, no or depends), or you can limit your search to a specific region. How is SoulMates more focused, spiritual and holistic than other “conscious singles” sites or the larger database dating services? Some Internet sites claim to have mastered “the science of compatibility.” Some have extensive questionnaires that address personality, learning styles, daily habits, and so on. We do agree with the essential premise that these sites state, i.e., that the more similar people are, the more harmonious the match will likely be. We personally attest to this. As twin flames with birthdays only three days apart (!), we have a marriage that is so harmonious, we can count on one hand the number of "fights" we've had in 10 years! So, a greater number of profile questions probably is a good thing in mate searching. However, it's not just the quantity of questions that matters, it's the quality. Are you just "tire kicking," checking out the online dating world for fun, or do you really want to meet your right mate? If the latter, you will need to pay a reasonable fee to do so with any good site. It is the industry standard nowadays that you can post and view profiles for free, but if you want to contact or be contacted by another member, you pay a membership fee.
